Village Vets Ashbourne

I would never ever come here again. My poor dog hasn't been himself so I took him to our vet, Village vets raheny, who were incredible as always. He had a blood test and unfortunately it showed that his kidneys were under stress. They called me right away and advised I brought him straight to Ashbourne vets to be kept in overnight for urgent fluids to give his kidneys a much needed break. Of course this was an awful phone call to recieve so I rushed him straight up, crying the entire way in worry. We phoned ahead, explained his blood results and that Raheny told us to come straight up. They said over the phone that it would be no issue and to come right in. When we arrived we were merely let in the front door. We told them who we were and that we had called ahead. The receptionist merely nodded, took the details from another arrival and then disappeared out the back. Flash forward to over an hour and a half later, she still hasnt returned. No one has so much as even come out to check in on us or explain what the delay is. At this point my poor dog is in distress and is beginning to howl and whimper. We ended up having to leave without being seen to by anyone and are now having to search for another 24/7 vet to get hin the urgent care he needs.

Really excellent service, the vets, vet nurses and receptionists are all so helpful and kind. I have the pet payment plan so both of my pet’s recent appointments and vaccinations were all covered which is brilliant. They do great work for cats especially and looking forward to the cat room being installed. Thank you so much from me and Dusty!

We would like to sincerely thank the whole team for their kindness, empathy and professionalism when we had to say goodbye to our beloved Tutsi. ❤️ Everything was handled calmly and with great care and respect, both for her and for us. We are truly grateful. Our only suggestion would be to have a small, private room dedicated to euthanasia and goodbyes, so families can have some quiet and privacy during such a difficult moment. Thank you for taking such good care of Tutsi until the very end. 🐾🌈❤️

We visited this clinic to before travel check my dog Lucy and I can honestly say the experience was amazing. From the moment we walked in, Lucy was welcomed with a treat, which immediately made her feel comfortable. The staff at reception were very kind and friendly, and the veterinarian was highly professional and gentle. You can really feel that they care about the animals. Even though we live a bit further away, I prefer coming here because Lucy is always happy, relaxed, and not afraid at all. Highly recommended! Alex

They are a friendly efficient vetinery clinic. I have taken my two dogs there for the last four years. They also have a nice cattery . August 2024 Still coming here after almost 10 yrs. There's a lovely new premises and all the nice staff are here too. My two dogs are well looked after , I wouldn't go any where else. March 2026 Couldn't say enough good things about our experience over the years Our dogs are.old now and.need more attention . All the vets are very feeling and gentle towards them doing their best to keep them comfortable. I really appreciate the support. Thank you all

Our experience with this veterinary clinic has been heartbreaking and extremely disappointing. We brought our dog to the clinic because he was in severe pain and needed help. From the beginning I explained that I was worried about the cost and wanted to understand all the options available before making any decision. What was very concerning was the lack of clear and consistent information. At first we were told that Patch’s leg was broken, then later we were told it was not broken but dislocated, and after that we were told that the tissues were damaged. The diagnosis kept changing and it did not feel professional or clear. Despite this uncertainty, surgery was strongly recommended and we were reassured that Patch was healthy enough and had a very high chance of recovery. Sadly, my dog died during the procedure. What made the situation even more upsetting is that we had already paid around €1500, and after our dog died the clinic still continued asking for more money. At that point it felt like the focus was on payment rather than compassion for a family that had just lost their dog. We trusted the clinic to guide us and help us make the best decision for my dog but instead we were left devastated and feeling that our dog suffered unnecessarily. This experience has been extremely painful and I would not want another family to go through what we experienced.
