Veterinary Specialists Ireland describes itself as a private, independently owned specialist hospital, founded in 2019 by Laura Cuddy and Turlough McNally. The website states it provides 24/7 emergency care and advanced referral-level treatment for small animals, with listed departments including orthopaedics & sports medicine, soft tissue & cancer surgery, spine & brain, critical care, and internal medicine.
Recent reviews include multiple accounts of urgent admissions and emergency treatment late at night, including immediate admission for lifeâsaving surgery and care for an anaphylactic reaction. However, one recent 1âstar review strongly disputes the âspecialists 24/7â claim, stating they were told no specialists were working at weekends/after hours and describing a case where their dog did not survive overnight after being advised to wait until morning.
Based on the clinicâs website summary and the latest reviews, services mentioned include
Google rating: 4.6 stars from 551 reviews. ââ

Avoid!!! This clinic doesn't have specialists 24/7, don't go there in an emergency situation! Read the negative comments and you will see. Once I starded posting on social media my story, I've received threats from director đ I was told the same no specialists on the weekends working, but on their webpage is stated they have specialists 24/7. If I could give -5 stars I would. Absolutely sickening experience we had with this clinic. People please don't be afraid to speak out. I am not going to go into details with my experience as I had to visit this clinic only at after work hours. The only thing I would strongly suggest, if you are saying you are open after hours and weekends all year round then do think maybe of putting specialist working on these times and not only consultants that has very little experience. As at night time or after hours people actually comes only if it is an emergency.... * Thank you for contacting me, and asking to correct my review... Very thoughtfull from your side. In my case dog was dying and consultant said that it is 50/50 that dog will survive over night but did not feel that specialist in this case were needed? Consultant should know that urgent surgery is needed for the pankreatitis and call specialist for it. I was told to wait till morning, unfortunately my little one did not survive over the night. My dog for you meant only a review star... very sad....

Absolutely world class veterinary surgery. My dog was referred here for cancer treatment and I can't fault the service we received.

We were sent for life-saving surgery. We were admitted immediately, the doctors were specialists, and the reception desk was very friendly and competent. The approach to the patient and the caregiver were very professional.Because I was not the owner of the dog, but a pet sitter. I highly recommend it.

Literally saved my dogs life! Peaches suffered an anaphylactic allergic reaction to something she ate and we had to bring her in as an emergency late at night, the vet and staff could not have been more helpful/empathetic- So grateful for all the work done especially from Andreađ

We brought friends and their dog here. It's an expensive clinic, but the service and quality are very good. Guests get delicious and free coffee. There was a local, not-so-friendly ginger cat wandering around by himself. Convenient parking with a charging station for cars. Everything has been thought of.

Dr. Bobby Ortiz, exotic veterinarian specialist gave a thorough examination of Dave , my Flemish Giant rabbit at Veterinary Specialists Ireland. Thankfully Daveâs teeth are good and we also had X-rays done of his spine. Thank you Dr. Bobby for your help and advice.

I can strongly recommend that clinic. We were attacked by 2 vicious XL bullies. It was terrible, they had no leash, no muzzle, and their owner just let them go on numerous occasions. Our little terrier was injured really bad and I thought this will be the end. It's the only 24/7 clinic open in all of Ireland and unfortunately we were attacked abt 10pm and had to drive half the country with heavily injured dog. Thanks god they were able to help. I think the main surgeon is Swiss or French she's really a professional. Once again thank you. I won't add pictures of our dog's wounds just him being there and his "brother" waiting for days when the other one was having all the procedures.
