⭐ 1 Star Very disappointing experience with Petcare Vets. Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling that financial considerations were given more importance than the welfare and best interests of the animal. One of my biggest concerns was receiving **two different recommendations from two different vets at the same practice** regarding my pet’s treatment. The conflicting advice left me extremely confused about what was actually appropriate and why the recommendations were so different. When you are paying for professional veterinary care, you expect consistency, clear reasoning, and confidence in the advice being provided. I also found the communication extremely frustrating. I asked what I believe were reasonable and logical questions about my pet’s treatment, but instead of receiving clear answers, I felt that my concerns were dismissed. On one occasion, when I continued asking a question because I had not received a satisfactory explanation, Mairead called me “rude” rather than properly addressing the question. I found that response particularly unprofessional. Overall, I was left with serious concerns about the level of knowledge, efficiency, communication, and consistency within the practice. When it comes to an animal’s health and welfare, pet owners should be able to trust that the advice they receive is well considered and based on the animal’s best interests. This experience has seriously damaged my confidence in Petcare Vets, and based on my experience, I would not recommend them to other pet owners.

Our pets have been with Petcare Vets since they first opened, and we wouldn’t go anywhere else. After years of dealing with more business-minded practices, meeting Mairead and her team was a breath of fresh air. Mairead combines excellent veterinary care with a thoughtful, holistic approach, and we have always felt listened to rather than judged. Over the years, Mairead and the team have helped us through some major events with real kindness and humanity, which has inspired a deep sense of loyalty and respect in return. Petcare are wonderful with our little dogs and our accident-prone cat, all of whom hate going to the vet. Mairead takes her time and always works through options rather than rushing decisions. Mairead is an excellent vet and a genuinely lovely person. The only downside is that they don’t currently have a bird vet.

Absolutely fantastic Team, always friendly and caring and available when you need them most

We had a wonderful experience at Petcare Vets with our dog Bailey. When he had a foreign object lodged in his gum, the petcare team were so gentle and caring, helping him feel comfortable and calm throughout the visit. They were incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything clearly. On top of the excellent care, they also helped us navigate the insurance claim, which made a stressful situation much easier to manage. Fantastic vets — we couldn’t recommend them more!

I am extremely disappointed with the care we received at petcare Greystones . Back in May, our cat started refusing food and became very ill. We brought her in, and after numerous tests and referrals to UCG, she spent two nights at the hospital. They suspected cancer or another serious condition. Now, in December, we still have no definitive diagnosis. Our cat is on strong steroids and chemotherapy, and we remain in the dark about her condition. Each time we call for updates, we’re told that they will get back to us, but they never do. It’s incredibly frustrating to spend over €5,000 and not receive proper follow-up or communication. It seems like they prioritize profit over genuine care for animals. I strongly advise others to be cautious and consider other clinics that truly care about their pets.

Couldn't recommend Mairéad and team highly enough. They have been great with our dog for a number of years now.

A very professional, amazing and caring team!

After 7 years, I am profoundly disappointed with the service and complete lack of compassion. Having spent over €3,000 in a single week for my cat's hospital emergency, I subsequently sought to arrange a payment plan for a critical, apparently urgent and definitely costly procedure. Instead of discussing options, the clinic owner summarily refused further treatment and, in a single email, directed me to seek veterinary care elsewhere.
