Disappointed with this practice. I rang on Sunday for my elderly dog who had what ended up being a burst abcess. I was told the vet had a few calls to make and that he’d call me back. He did and I explained we were in a show but could come in whenever he could see us he advised to come in by a certain time. As we were on the way I rang and was told he’d to go on another call but would ring us after so we proceeded to travel there as we were already half way. We didnt hear back for nearly two hours again and as we had two small children and the dog in the car and it was nearing 6pm (first call was made 11.30 that morning(we drove over and he happened to be there but was running out again. He quickly examined the dog for probably a total of no more than 5 minutes. On 1pm Tuesday a receptionist rang me about payment, asking me would I “be in today with it” - I explained I’d be in town the next day, Wednesday (as I don’t live there) and would pay it then. I did not get to town Wednesday and now Thursday morning at 10am she is calling me again about payment. The pressure exerted is totally unnecessary I feel. I explained I didn’t get to town as I have tow small children and one wasn’t well but it would be in this week. I asked were things that bad off in there that they can’t give someone a day to get in with a payment! Also the cost of which was €75 for a probably 4 minute visit! She said she was told to “chase” it I said it hardly requires chasing one day later surely you would be chasing unpaid debtors a few weeks later at the earliest! Bear in mind I’ve been a customer there and have never had any issues over the 15 years my dog is alive regarding payments. This has totally put me off using this vets again which is unfortunate as there a some good vets there but the abrupt and rude communication I received on both phone calls was enough for me to use one of many other vets in town going forward

We first used this practice 12 years ago when our newly arrived rescue dog cut his paw on glass. It was a weekend and as my first experience going to a vet. It was excellent not just in how our dog was treated but how having two young children at home the vet kept him in until he was sure the anesthetic was out of his system. In the intervening years we have kept going and continued to find excellent service and very caring staff. Last week was unfortunately his final visit and we went with him as a family. I just want to take the opportunity to thank the vet whose name if I remember correctly was Sarah for her kindness, sensitivity, patience, humanity and professionalism. It's a difficult and emotional event so on behalf of all the family. Thanks, keep up the good work and mind yourselves.

In the intervening years we have kept going and continued to find excellent service and very caring staff. Last week was unfortunately his final visit and we went with him as a family. I just want to take the opportunity to thank the vet whose name if I remember correctly was Sarah for her kindness, sensitivity, patience, humanity and professionalism. I attended this Clinic with my cocker spaniel and was blown away by the experience I had! I am new to the area and was looking for a new vet and I’m delighted I found summerhill Vets! From the moment we entered the establishment I felt at ease and welcome. My dog was treated with such love and kindness. The Vet Leanne chatted with me and kept me fully informed at all times! Gave me lots of great tips and I felt I left with lots of helpful and valuable information! I’ve never been treated so well in any vet I’ve ever been to! For this I thank them and highly recommend these vets as they really seem to genuinely care!

The staff of summerhill vets are absolutely excellent, we have been with them for years. And wouldn't go anywhere else. My Gibbs won't let anyone else do he's nails & loves the attention & love he gets from the staff (along with a treat too 😂) Took excellent care of our Chara,(red setter) throughout her life. A beautiful touch to receive a card from the staff on her passing. Exceptional & genuinely caring team.
