We brought our cat to GreyAbbey out of hours. The consultation didn’t even last 5 minutes, she checked her temperature & gums and admitted her. We were quoted 500-550 which was extortionate but we agreed. Later on that night they called to say they forgot to quote us on the overnight stay so now it will be €615. We had no option but to say yes. Next morning the vet called at 7.30 to say she’s doing ok & ready to collect. I work 9-5 so told him I can’t collect until later, he said no problem. We arrived to collect her asked instantly can we settle the bill first before even speaking to a vet. €715 now!! In the space of 24 hours we got 3 different quotes. We are so upset with this as it’s so unprofessional and we never got asked once if we were ok to go ahead with treatment that would be more money. We asked can they take off anything like the consult fee of €140 or overnight stay as they forgot to quote it but she said we are a large business with 40 branches so we can’t, if it was a small business maybe. Would it not be the case of a bigger business can make adjustments considering they probably make millions?! Coco still isn’t herself…. €715 later and I would never go here again. I’m so disappointed as I used Troytown many times for my horses especially on Xmas Day years ago but it’s clear it’s just a money scheme now. Stay away, just a money hungry business that try to admit every animal to make money.

Amazing vet, he visited twice, one as an emergency and one for casual visit, our dogs were well taken care, they got lots of treats and were quite spoiled. Moreover the two vets we spoken were very skilled

Not really a fan of franchised vets as it’s usually just like a cattle market. But not in the case of Kildare and clonsilla. They were so gentle and caring and even sent me a video of my cat when he was awake as he wasn’t eating and I got a video of him rushing his food. Was so nice of them as they knew I was worried. It’s all about the animal to them and not the bill! Such a great experience all round.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, unfortunately we had to use the "out of hours emergency service" for one of our dogs, the staff looked after him extremely well right up to the end, and followed up with us afterwards. So we moved our other pets from our own vet to village vets, highly recommend the team here.

I’d like to report that I brought my dog Alfie up to grey abbey vets and the staff, Alexandra at reception, and the Vet Catilina, rushed to take care of my dog who had a serious problem, and I could not of wished or hoped to have such lovely people take care of my baby. Could not recommend them enough they were my angles in my hour of need. Thank you so much grey abbey staff, and merry Christmas!!!
