We'll be forever grateful to the fabulous team at Athlone Veterinary Hospital. Our dog was very, very sick and her symptoms were beyond the remit of our former vet's skills, we rang and explained the scenario to Tara and 40 minutes later we were in an examination room with a probable diagnosis and prognosis. My dog stayed for 3 nights during which time the team saved her life. The aftercare has been meticulous. Their care, skill, professionalism and empathy is second to none. We've moved our 3 dogs to be under their care and would absolutely recommend their service to anyone. From reception/secretarial staff to nurses and vets these people love animals, it shows, and they are amongst the most professional team we've ever encountered. Keep up the amazing work, you guys are fantastic. Thanks for saving Socks.

Athlone vet hospital has taken care of all my animals and I continue to bring them all there and our new pets because they’re the best one here in Athlone and always put your pets needs first. They are very caring and helpful, couldn’t recommend them enough. I have tried other vets here in Athlone before and nothing compares to them.

5 Stars from us. We had to contact them late at night for a big emergency. Tara was with us within minutes. She looked after our girl most of the night updating us throughout. Our dog spent two nights here and had excellent care and the most lovely staff looking after her. Helpful at all times with huge empathy and understanding of our worries and concerns. Lyndsey and Moya updated us with photos and phone calls and allowed us visit as much as we wanted. I would not hesitate in recommending this practice to anyone. Our dog has finished her medication and is good as new. We are a very happy family again. Special thank you to vets, Tara and Antoinette.

Absolutely shocking. From the very beginning to the end. We brought our dog here when he started having seizures out of nowhere. The girl was more concerned that he was still intact, and asked why he wasn't muzzled, even though our dog is not a restricted breed. They kept him overnight and monitored him while doing tests to figure out the problem. They sent him home with medication that I later discovered was a suitable dose for a cat (our dog is 50kg) He had seizures again and even worse 2 weeks later. They wanted to do CT scans. My gut told me to get a second opinion so we looked for another vet. This different vet went into so much more detail and asked so much more important questions that the Athlone Vets should have been asking from the beginning. Within half an hour they found the root cause by simply checking his stool and urine samples. How could athlone vets not check these basic things and prescribe a tiny dose is beyond me. Absolutely disgusted, as we could have lost our dog if we didn't get a second opinion. Also, with Athlone Vets, his 'check up' was the vet watching him walk out the window of the clinic. These people absolutely do not care and charged us a small fortune for not doing the basics. Please do not bring your beloved animals here as all they care about is money and that is very clear to be seen

Absolute shock I got when I found out the negligence from this place after I brought my dog for treatment not only did they fail to spot issues from the full tests they done on my dog they also prescribed the wrong dose of steroids for my dog that wouldn’t even be acceptable dose for a cat nevermind a big dog . I nearly lost my dog because of them and luckily I went to a different vet that could diagnose my dog within minutes and hopefully i got him just in time and he’s recovering now if i would have waited any longer he would have been gone so please beware before you bring your pets here !
